A study that counted the amount of hair in each human nostril won the 2023 Ig Nobel Prize in Medicine on September 14th. The award, created by the Annals of Improbable Research magazine, celebrates some of the world’s strangest research.

The group of scientists that conducts the research discovered that, on average, every person has 120 hairs in the left nostril and 112 in the right one. Each hair can reach a length of 1 centimeter.
