A Colombian couple named their newborn daughter Chat Yipiti, in honor of ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) platform. The registration was completed with no problem on August 15th in the city of Cereté. The decision created online debate, with many people criticizing this choice and the lack of intervention by government agencies. The Colombian government does not prohibit certain names, but officials at the National Civil Registry have the authority to deny those that could harm a child’s dignity or reputation.
